I don't go around looking for opportunities (unless you consider posting here one), but I do think it's important to let the truth be known about the Watchtower. They are an abusive, manipulative and deceptive organization that hurts people, and I think they should be exposed for that. The more everyone knows about them, and other cults like them, the less they will be able to hurt others. And if the word gets out far and wide enough, the WT will be forced to change their tactics.

Do you have a need to prove JWs wrong?
by LouBelle ini remember when i first left i wanted to tell every one i knew how bad/wrong/indoctrinated the jws were.
i was angry at having been deceived for so many years.
now they are just like every other religion if you get to the core of it.

I finally said it...I don't like jw's
by kzjw ini'm vacation and watched as my wife headed out for her piosneering this past monday...i was pissed, because i'm here, but she'd rather be out there, hawking the wares of the borg as a non-paid employee.
i stewed in the house for 3-4 hours, angry that i took vows with this woman, but she essentially is forsaking those vows for her "friends", when she knows i don't care for it.
well the tolerance finally wore off!

There are some good books out on how to help your loved one out of a cult. You might find "Releasing the Bonds, Empowering People to Think for Themselves" by cult expert Steven Hassan helpful.

Latest United Nations-End of Religion-End of World alert
by Questions1 init has been awhile since i've posted anything, but i got this e-mail from someone who is on the edge of falling out of the borg due to mental stress.
i've attempted to verify the information, even called the united nations, but haven't gotten to a person who can say if this meeting happened.
my gut says this is a contrived experience with many details just not adding up...but you never know.

As the previous posters have shown, this story is obviously untrue, and it's sad that many JWs will readily believe it. What is even more sad and unbelievable is that the WT teaches that the UN will destroy religion at all.
In 1948 the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It clearly states in Article 18 that, "Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance."
The United Nations has sections that deal specifically with human rights issues. Jehovah's Witnesses have appealed to these bodies when their rights to freely practice their religion have been violated. An example of this occurred when JWs seeking to avoid a military service requirement in Korea appealed to the UN. The UN sided with the JWs in defending their right to freedom of worship. This information can be confirmed on UN websites.
It is preposterous to believe that the UN will somehow "turn on" religion, yet the WT continues to predict this to its followers. -

Aren't we as a group smart enough to bring the whole thing down?"
by BonaFide ini realize that i was stuck believing in jw almost all my life.
and that each person has to see the light for themselves.. but it was partly the hypocrisy, partly the internet, partly my brother, ex-jw, and partly thinking on my own that did it.. there are smart enough people on the board, is there anything we can do to bring the whole jw thing down?.
there must me some way, some thing, we can do.

I don't think the WT is going to "go down." I do think it will be forced to change. And that's all I really want anyway. They have a right to exist and believe whatever they want. But they don't have a right to keep hurting people.
In my opinion the main external pressures the organization faces come from three areas: apostates and others exposing their hypocritical and abusive tactics, history, etc.; lawsuits from private parties, as well as governments; and financial pressures resulting from economic and market conditions. We are doing our part every time we post information exposing the WT for what it is and helping others to leave.
Rumor has it there are internal pressures as well. Power struggles within the organization, and a general failure of their theology, leave them without a clear direction to proceed. All in all, the pressures are piling up, and I expect that the WT will be forced into making many changes in order to remain a viable organization.
On the other hand, maybe paralysis and a lack of vision will result in failure to make the necessary adjustments, and they will crash and burn. Or at least languish, and bleed members and money. Time will tell. And whether on this sight or others, former members and interested persons will be here to watch and document it all. -

WT backtracking fast on Book Study -High Gas Prices
by stillajwexelder inso tonight the congregation discussed the front page of the october km -the new meeting schedule.
straight away it was emphasized it was not because of high gas prices that the meetings were being reduced.
it was pointed out that in parts of the world the brothers do not have cars so it was not high gas prices.

I wonder if a shortage of elders is a factor?

Why hasn't there ever been or ever be a mass exodus from the WTS?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe wts have a history of false prophecies, including teachings that armageddon and the end of the world would occur in 1914, 1918, 1925, and 1975. .
most of us didn't see that the true point of authority was not the bible, but the watchtower magazine, awake magazine, ministry school and the ever-changing views of the governing body.
the word of god in the bible does not change and a prophecy that does not come true is not of god's doing.

In my opinion there is a mass exodus going on all the time. Recent surveys show between 60% and 67% of JW's leave the organization. While they aren't all leaving at one time, that's the highest churn rate of any major religion in the US. If they weren't bringing new ones in all the time, they would have a huge decline in membership.
It seems to me this problem will just increase in the future as more and more information about the WT comes out and they are exposed for being false prophets and manipulators. -

Two nice christian ladys want to mentor me ........
by troubled mind ini have met some very nice people at a local methodist church during one of our conversations a woman told me they offer a program called soul care for anyone going through a tough time .it is a program to encourage basically .
when i told her i felt i had lost my whole social community since leaving the jw's she offered to mentor me in this program .
we had a first meeting to kind of get to know each other .....it just felt so weird, like being the householder on the other side of our bible study program we did as witnesses .

I was seeing a counselor at the time I left the WT. He suggested that I try visiting several different churches just to see what they were like, no commitments. I found that advice useful, and came and went as I pleased to a few of them.
While the WT would like you to believe they are the only religion that questions the idea of a burning hell, you'll find that doctrine is controversial, and many mainstream Christians don't accept it either.
Give yourself a chance to experiment and see what's out there. Maybe you'll find something you like and maybe not, but the experience will be useful. -

Unbaptised publisher son of baptised parents- gay?
by Pineapple inok so my friend is unbaptized publisher living on his own (21).
he is gay and does not want to be a witness anymore.
his parents are jws and very strong.
-
Mrs. Fiorini
Since he's living on his own, can he try fading? If he hasn't been to meetings for awhile and doesn't claim to be a JW, there should be no need for an elder's meeting or an announcement if he decided to live an openly gay life. That was my experience as a baptized person. I'm not gay, but but have done other things I could have been hauled into an elders meeting for, like going to church, donating blood, and other such evils.

Why Grandma wouldn't talk to her grandson.
by compound complex inthat's just it, dear coco... fear.
the religion is not based on love, it is based on fear.
i personally have worked for years to purge myself of the fears within me, and it is not easy by any stretch of the imagination.

No more kool aid makes a good point. One of the big problems Jesus had with the Pharisees was that they were more interested in following the rules than in showing love. Jesus railed against that. I think modern day JWs should too.

Nov 15 WT - stumbled over a teaching? There's no where else to go!!!
by truthseeker ini just read the nov 15, wt - what a laugh.. so they admit some leave over their teachings and then they say there's no where else to go.
what a joke - they are liars.. .
was it a problem with a teaching?.

I would beg to differ with their analysis. I have more spirituality and joy in my life now than I ever did as a JW.
I remember talking once to another former Witness about the way the WT misapplies that scripture and turns it into self-serving propaganda. He said, "That's not a reason to stay in a religion, just because you don't think there's anything better out there." He was right. But they would like nothing more than for their followers to believe it so they won't leave.
And as far as spiritual food is concerned, you don't have to call a starving person to the dinner table twice. If people are refusing to eat their wonderful food, they may wish to reevaluate what they're serving!
